As we welcome a new year, it's the perfect time to reflect on what makes life sweeter. For me, there are several favorite things that bring joy and inspiration every day. From inspiring memoirs by talented women to practical products that make our children happy, I'd like to share my top picks with you.

Inspiring memoirs by incredibly talented women who overcame challenges to do what they love have always been a source of motivation for me. Stories that remind us of the power of human connection and celebrate courage and freedom are truly uplifting.

One such memoir is "Be Ready When the Luck Happens" by Ina Garten. As I read this book, I was reminded of her Cooking for Jeffrey series, which has been a staple in my kitchen for years. But what I loved learning about Ina's life is how tough she is – not just in the kitchen, but also outside of it.

As Ina shares her story, we see that her television and cookbook empire was built on skills in the kitchen, prolific creativity, and a casual, classy style. But there's more to the story. We learn about the scope of her smarts, her tenacity in overcoming obstacles, and her wisdom. It's truly inspiring.

Another favorite memoir is "A Complete Unknown", which tells the fascinating story of Bob Dylan and Joan Baez's relationship. The film's portrayal of their romance is captivating, and I love how it highlights the power of music to bring people together.

When it comes to podcasts, I'm a huge fan of "Wiser Than Me" with Julia Louis-Dreyfus. This podcast features witty conversations with women who inspire me, from Jane Fonda to Isabel Allende. Julia's ability to "school" her guests on life and love is truly remarkable.

Another favorite podcast of mine is "Meaningful Conversations with Maria Shriver". Recorded in 2019, the topics are timeless, and the episodes I've enjoyed so far have been thought-provoking and engaging. From Rob Lowe to Kathie Lee Gifford, Maria's conversations with her guests are always informative and entertaining.

Movies are another favorite of mine, and one that has recently caught my attention is "Gladiator 2". I was excited to see this sequel since it was filmed while I was traveling in Morocco. The film did not disappoint – it was a great follow-up to the original, with an unforgettable performance by Russell Crowe.

For theater enthusiasts, I highly recommend "Moulin Rouge!" on Broadway. This show is a must-see, with Grammy-nominated music that had the crowd on their feet. The production is a true spectacle, and I've been enjoying it since my sister and brother-in-law gave me an early birthday gift.

Finally, for families with young children, there are several favorite movies and TV shows that bring joy to our lives. One classic that never fails to delight is "Mary Poppins". This Disney film has been a staple in our household since my grandson was born, and I'm so glad we've had the chance to watch it again recently.

As for travel destinations, there are several places around the world that are perfect for families. Costa Rica, Florida, and Colorado are just a few of my favorites – each offers something unique and exciting for visitors of all ages.

In terms of practical products, I'm always on the lookout for items that make life easier or more enjoyable. One favorite of mine is the ASICS Yay Gel Kayano 29 running shoes, which offer arch support and come in a range of colors.

For parents who want to travel with baby, it's essential to choose products that are gentle on sensitive skin. The Uber Soft, Absorbent Diapers I mentioned earlier are perfect for long flights or car trips – they're made with innovative RashShield Protection and are completely free of chlorine and harsh chemicals.

In addition to these favorites, there are several other products and destinations that make life sweeter every day. From comfortable clothes by Kate Quinn to eco-friendly materials for sustainable living, there's always something new to explore and discover.
